Removing a cone-shaped part of the cervix is \u200b\u200bcalled a conical cervical resection.\u00a0 The indications for cone resection are the confirmed pathological lesions of the cervix that include intraepithelial neoplasms – low and high grade dysplasia and carcinoma in situ. The depth of the cone depends on whether the woman is of reproductive or menopausal age as the cervical epithelium is subject to the woman’s hormonal changes.<\/p>\n
The cone is removed with a scalpel, an electric Loop bracket or a Laser.\u00a0 With the scalpel we achieve better histological control of the surgical borders in contrast to the other two methods which are the thermal methods; due to the heat, the surgical limits are destroyed and the control for the removal of the lesion to healthy limits is not reliable.\u00a0 On the contrary, thermal methods are superior in reducing bleeding complications.<\/p>\n
